‘Drug Lords’ Producer ITN Hires BBC Studios’ Anna Mallett As CEO


BBC Studios exec Anna Mallett has been appointed Chief Executive of ITN, the British news producer and company behind Netflix’s doc series Drug Lords.

Mallett is currently Group Chief Operating Officer and MD, Production at the production arm of the British public broadcaster. She will take up her new role in 2019 following the departure of John Hardie, who leaves the company after almost a decade. Chief Financial Officer Bryan Martin and ITN Productions Editorial Director Chris Shaw assuming the respective roles of Acting CEO and Acting Editor-in-Chief in the interim.

In addition to producing a raft of factual content for broadcasters including Netflix, Channel 4, ITV and Channel 5, the company produces news programming for the latter three companies.

Prior to her current role, Anna held a number of senior positions at the BBC, including as Chief Operating Officer of the pre-merger BBC Studios, which delivered around 2000 hours of content in 2017. Before joining the BBC, Anna spent around eight years at global management consultant firm the Boston Consulting Group, leading projects for FTSE 100 companies, mainly in the media and retail sectors.
