‘The Terror’: George Takei Will Co-Star In & Consult On AMC’s Ridley Scott Drama For Season 2; Four Others Cast


Star Trek original George Takei is set for a series-regular role in Season 2 of The Terror, Ridley Scott’s anthology drama for AMC, and also will serve as a consultant.


Set during World War II, the second season of follows a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community and a young man’s journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible. Kiki Sukezane (Lost in Space), Miki Ishikawa (9-1-1), Shingo Usami (Unbroken) and Naoko Mori (Everest) also have joined for the sophomore run, which premieres in 2019.

Takei, who played Sulu on the original 1960s Trek series, was imprisoned as a child in Japanese-American internment camps after the outbreak of World War II. His personal experience and knowledge of this ugly chapter in U.S. history led him to become a leading figure and activist for social justice. As a consultant, Takei will work closely with the executive producers to ensure the accuracy of historical events and storytelling.

On The Terror, he’ll play Yamato-san, a former fishing captain and community elder.

Sukezane will play Yuko, a mysterious woman from Chester Nakayama’s (Derek Mio) past; Ishikawa is Amy, a Nakayama family friend; and Usami and Mori play Henry and Asako Nakayama, Chester’s parents.

The 10-episode Season 2 is co-created and executive produced by Alexander Woo (True Blood) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island). Woo also serves as showrunner. Production on Season 2 begins next month in Vancouver, with Josef Kubota Wladyka directing the first two episodes.
