‘Rent’ Alum Adam Pascal To Star In ‘Pretty Woman: The Musical’

Tony Award-nominee Adam Pascal is set to star in Pretty Woman: The Musical for one week. The original Roger from the landmark musical Rent will step into the role of Edward Lewis from Jan. 15-20.

“Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance have written a premiere romantic rock score for Pretty Woman: The Musical and we are ecstatic to have one of Broadway’s foremost rockers, Adam Pascal, step in for Andy Karl during his vacation,” said producer Paula Wagner.

“I always love a reason to come back to Broadway,” said Pascal, “so singing this score opposite Samantha Barks, in this sexy, romantic musical for eight performances was a no-brainer.”

Based on the classic Garry Marshall movie starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, Pretty Woman: The Musical has played to sold-out audiences at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre and has shattered the box office records since opening July 20. Grammy Award winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance wrote original music and lyrics. The book comes from Marshall and the film’s screenwriter J.F. Lawton. Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell serves as director and choreographer. It was recently announced that Pretty Woman: The Musical will launch its first international production in Germany starting Sept, 24, 2019.

In addition to being part of the original Broadway cast of Rent, Pascal starred in the indie film SLC Punk! in 2000 and then returned to the stage as Radames in Elton John and Tim Rice’s musical Aida, for which he received a Drama League award. Pascal co-produced the hit off-Broadway play Fully Committed with fellow former Rent cast member, Jesse L. Martin. He also appeared in a production of Cabaret at Studio 54 and reprised his role in the film adaptation of Rent. His other stage credits include Chess, Memphis, Chicago and Something Rotten.
