The Big Bang Theory is adding a new face to its 12th and final season. Lindsey Kraft (Grace and Frankie, Dirty John, The Conners, Living Biblically) will appear in a recurring role on the long-running CBS sitcom.

Kraft will play Marissa, the new bride of Penny’s ex-boyfriend Zack, a role reprised by Brian Thomas Smith. Kraft will first appear on Jan. 10 episode and return for multiple episodes. The semi-spoilery logline for the episode states: “Zack and his wife want a baby, but when Zack is infertile, they ask Leonard for help.”

Show creator Chuck Lorre recently told Deadline that they have discussed the finale to the sitcom and that they have a general idea of what they are aiming for with May and the finale.

“These days there’s a lot of melancholy in the background at all times,” he said. “It’s been a 12-year project that has been really just a joy. It’s going to be very, very sad to let it go.”

The Big Bang Theory remains one of the most popular on television — Season 11 averaged 18.9 million viewers and was the second most-watched series of last season (behind Roseanne) and among adults 18-49, Big Bang was the second highest-rated entertainment program (behind NBC’s This Is Us).

Kraft is repped by SDB Partners and The Burstein Company. The news of the casting was first reported by Deadline’s sister site TVLine.
