Mobile Ticket Sales Drive Fandango In 2018, With ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ Latest Hero


EXCLUSIVE: Online movie ticket retailer Fandango is reporting a banner year for mobile ticket sales with 80% of its inventory sold on mobile devices, up from 72% a year ago.

Last night alone, Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse repped 83% of Fandango’s opening tickets on mobile devices.

Fandango reached another mobile milestone this month, with its iOS app garnering more than 1M reviews and ratings in Apple’s App Store, ranking as the most widely rated app in the U.S. entertainment category, according to App Annie. Also according to App Annie, the Fandango app has maintained an average of 4.7 out of 5 stars rating, one of only 42 apps in the App Store to receive more than 1 million ratings and maintain a 4.6 or higher score.
