Claire Foy & Chuck Lorre Set For Honors At Critics’ Choice Awards


The Critics’ Choice Awards will honor The Girl in the Spider’s Web star and The Crown alum Claire Foy and sitcom hitmaker Chuck Lorre at its 24th annual ceremony next month.

Foy, who also recently co-starred opposite Ryan Gosling in Damien Chazelle’s First Man, will receive the CCA’s #SeeHer Award. The group says it a woman who embodies the values set forth by the #SeeHer movement — to push boundaries on changing stereotypes and recognize the importance of authentic portrayals of women across the entertainment landscape.

“We are very honored to recognize this acclaimed actress with our third annual #SeeHer Award,” said Bob Liodice, CEO of Association of National Advertisers, which spearheads the #SeeHer campaign. “[Foy’s] portrayals of such strong female characters is an inspiration for our movement.”

The Big Bang Theory creator Lorre — whose recent credits also include Netflix’s The Kominsky Method and Disjointed and CBS’ Young Sheldon and Mom — is set for Critics’ Choice Creative Achievement Award. It recognizes a body of work that stands out for its sustained excellence over a period of decades on programs that have delighted huge audiences with tremendous laughter and clever insights into the human condition.

Big Bang, Kominsky, Sheldon and Mom all are nominated for Crtics’ Choice Awards this year.

The Big Bang Theory has been called the most successful television comedy ever, so it seems like the perfect time to honor Chuck as that show gets ready to ride off into the sunset,” said Joey Berlin, President of the Broadcast Film Critics Association. “For a quarter of a century Chuck has been keeping us in stitches with comedies of remarkable hilarity and consistency, delighting viewers and critics alike.”

The Critics’ Choice Awards are presented by the the BFCA and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association. The CW will air the January 13 ceremony live from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.
