EXCLUSIVE: Miranda Otto, who stars as Aunt Zelda in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Zoë Chao from Strangers on Facebook Watch, and Silicon Valley‘s Zach Woods are set for supporting roles in Downhill. The trio joins previously announced stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell in Fox Searchlight’s Nat Faxon and Jim Rash-directed remake of Ruben Ostlund’s 2014 Swedish drama-comedy Force Majeure.
The film, written by Jesse Armstrong, centers around how a narrow avalanche escape during a ski vacation in the Alps throws a seemingly picture-perfect family into disarray as they are forced to reevaluate life, and how they truly feel about each other.
Louis-Dreyfus is producing the pic with Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Foxcatcher) and Stefanie Azpiazu (Private Life and Enough Said). Executive producers are by Ostlund and Erik Hemmendorff.
Otto, whose credits include the second and third films in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings franchise, Annabelle: Creation, and the Fox series 24: Legacy, is repped by Gersh, United Agents and Management 360.
Chao, repped by CAA, B. Company, and Schreck, Rose, Dapello, Adams, can next be seen in Richard Linklater’s adaptation of Maria Semple’s novel, Where’d You Go Bernadette, opposite Cate Blanchett as well as Sell By, an indie film from Mike Doyle starring Patricia Clarkson.
UTA and Rise Management reps Woods, who appeared in the Steven Spielberg-directed Oscar-nominated film The Post, with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks, was a series regular on NBC’s The Office, and can next be heard in Sony’s The Angry Birds Movie 2.
