‘Plastic Man’ In Early Development At Warner Bros.

DC Comics

Deadline has confirmed that Amanda Idoko is adapting the Quality Comics’ superhero Plastic Man for an upcoming Warner Bros./DC feature, which does not yet have a director nor a green light.

Jack Cole created the character in 1941, and DC absorbed the brand in 1956. Plastic Man was a member of the Justice League and had a Saturday morning TV series that ran from 1979 to 1981. Plastic Man is Patrick “Eel” O’Brian, who was originally a crook. When a heist goes sideways, he is drenched with chemicals, and when he wakes up learns he has the power to stretch and form his body like rubber. He then begins fighting crime.

Former New Line chief Bob Shaye is an EP on the project. Idoko’s credits include the ABC comedy series The Mayor as well as the upcoming movie Breaking News in Yuba County, which stars Allison Janney and Laura Dern and is directed by Tate Taylor.
