‘Lucifer’ Series Finale Ratings Sinfully Steady With 2017, NBA & Warriors Score

In the end, the devil is always in the details in the television business and for the series finale of the now canceled Lucifer (0.8/4) last night the dark lord was pleased.

With literally a big reveal at the end of the Season 3 closer of the Tom Ellis led series set in the City of Angeles, Lucifer was up a tenth from last week among adults 18-49 and down just a tenth from its last finale of May 29, 2017 – which is a pretty steady road to Hell and elsewhere for any show in today’s environment. On a night that also saw the Season 1 finale of the renewed The Resident (0.9/4), which was down a tenth from its May 7 final numbers, FOX was up a tenth overall to a 0.9/4 to be tied for second place with an unchanged Dancing With The Stars (1.0/4) fueled ABC.

While an up a tenth The Voice (1.6/6) juiced NBC took the top Big 4 demo spot with the same 1.3/5 it had last week, the real scoring action was further up the dial on TNT with Game 1 of the NBA Western Conference Finals.

The dominating Golden State Warriors took the Houston Rockets down 119-106 but TNT was a winner too as the face-off delivered a 6.7 metered market result. That’s a cable topping match with the comparable Game 1 of 2016 for the best any Western Conference opener has done for TNT. The current NBA champs and the Rockets meet up for Game 2 on Wednesday.

Otherwise it was a pretty even keel on the Big 4 and the CW on Monday as a number of series came in steady with their May 7 ratings results. Yes, Man With A Plan (0.9/4) and the finale of the now pink slipped Superior Donuts (0.9/4) aw a rise of 12% and 29% respectively from their fast affiliates or CBS. But Elementary (0.6/3) was the same as was the CW’s Supergirl (0.5/2) and iZombie (0.3/1) plus ABC’s The Crossing (0.5/2). After last week’s season debut, Running Wild with Bear Grylls (0.8/3) slipped 11% in the key demo.

All of which could prove demonic grizzle for Jimmy Kimmel at the upfronts later today – we’ll see won’t we?
