EXCLUSIVE: Beijing-based Huayi Brothers International just landed Greater Chinese distribution rights to 355. Deal is near the $20M+ paid for the US rights yesterday by Universal Pictures.

Simon Kinberg is directing the Theresa Rebeck-scripted film that stars Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Fan Bingbing, and Lupita Nyong’o. Huayi Brothers International will also co-finance 355, with Universal Pictures distributing the film in the U.S.

Freckle Films’ Jessica Chastain and Kelly Carmichael will produce 355 alongside Simon Kinberg via Kinberg Genre. The film also scored a large deal for French rights with SND, which made the deal before the US rights were brokered. This continues to be the hottest pic of the Cannes Market, as territories on the $75M budgeted spy thriller are being brokered as we speak.

CAA Media Finance and CAA China brokered the deal on behalf of the filmmakers. FilmNation Entertainment is handling international sales.
