Sam Rockwell & Chance The Rapper Join ‘Trolls 2’

Sam Rockwell, who won an Oscar this year for his role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Grammy winner Chance the Rapper have just joined the cast of DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls 2, the sequel to the animated family film that grossed $346.8 million worldwide and also garnered an Oscar nomination for Justin Timberlake’s song “Can’t Stop The Feeling.” The second installment is set for release in spring 2020.

Both actors will join returning cast members Timberlake and Kendrick to lend their voices for new characters and will also show off their musical talents by recording songs for the movie’s soundtrack. Sam Rockwell? Who knew?

Other new cast members include Anthony Ramos (Hamilton), Karan Soni (Deadpool 1&2), Flula Borg (Pitch Perfect 2) and Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey), who join returning cast members Kendrick (Poppy), Timberlake (Branch), James Corden (Biggie), Caroline Hjelt (Chenille), Aino Jawo (Satin), Ron Funches (Cooper) and Kunal Nayyar (Guy Diamond).

The film is produced by Gina Shay, directed by Walt Dohrn and co-directed by David P. Smith. The all-new installment expands the series’ music genres to represent everything from pop, country, and hip-hop to hard rock, funk, and EDM.

This film’s logline: “Queen Poppy and Branch make a surprising discovery — there are other Troll worlds beyond their own, and their distinct differences create big clashes between these various tribes. When a mysterious threat puts all of the Trolls across the land in danger, Poppy, Branch, and their band of friends must embark on an epic quest to create harmony among the feuding Trolls to unite them against certain doom.”
