Meet My Mom features celebrities chatting candidly with their mothers. The first episode, which premieres today, will feature Reese Witherspoon and her mom Betty drinking sweet tea on a porch in Nashville and talking about movies, nerds, and sneaking out past curfew.
“As a child, it’s sometimes hard to see your mom as an individual with her own life,” said Witherspoon. “But Meet My Mom is the chance to get to know the real person behind the mom and find out what really makes her tick.”
The 5-episode, short-form series will air throughout the month of May and feature other celebrities in conversation with their mothers.
Lilly Singh and her mom Malwinder will discuss the elder Singh’s move from India to Canada, the challenges in raising a wannabe rapper, and Lilly’s undying love for The Rock. Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon will go toe to toe with his mom Kelly about raising six kids, chasing Adam’s Olympic dreams, and the Pyeongchang moment that meant the most to both of them.
Model Ashley Graham and her mom Linda will dish about the moment Ashley’s grandma saw her first nude spread, why Linda had trouble finding a date, and an important turning point in their relationship. Westworld’s Leonardo Nam and his mom Laura will make spring rolls while they discover that they shared a common form of teenage rebellion, regrettable haircuts, and Laura’s surprising reaction when Leo told her he was going to be a dad.
“We love celebrating mothers not only as parents but also as women whose wisdom only grows more valuable,” said Charlotte Koh, Hello Sunshine’s head of digital media and programming. “Each duo has their own unique yet relatable story to tell and we think Facebook Watch is the perfect platform for a show about the joy of feeling connected to family.”
