‘Iron Man’ Original Suit Burgled From Pacoima Prop House, LAPD Investigating

The original maroon and gold Iron Man suit worn by Robert Downey, Jr. in the first 2008 movie was reported missing from Movie Prop Storage yesterday. The Pacoima prop house told police that the suit must have gone missing between Feb. and April 25 of this year, said LAPD Sargent Barry Montgomery who said that it  is being investigated by the LAPD’s Foothill Division.

“It was reported by the storage facility that the prop was missing. It is considered a burglary,” said Montgomery. The storage facility, he said, is located in the 13,200 block of Weidner St.

The Los Angeles Times first reported the story and valued the suit at $325K.

Marvel’s original Iron Man was directed by Jon Favreau and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It grossed a mere (in Marvel terms) $585.1M at the worldwide box office and launched the entire Marvel Studios universe that is the envy of every studio in town … er, except Disney.
