It’s official. Netflix has ordered six half-hour episodes of After Life, a new dark comedy series from Ricky Gervais.

Created, executive produced, directed by and starring Gervais, After Life centers on Tony (Gervais) who had a perfect life. But after his wife Lisa suddenly dies, Tony changes. After contemplating taking his own life, he decides instead to live long enough to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he likes from now on. He thinks it’s like a Super Power — not caring about himself or anyone else — but it turns out to be tricky when everyone is trying to save the nice guy they used to know.

Charlie Hanson (Extras) also executive produces.

Gervais has a long history with Netflix. The Internet TV network bought his stand-up show Humanity, which premiered in March, and bought the rights to his next stand-up show. Netflix also acquired U.S. and select international rights to his The Office spinoff movie David Brent: Life on the Road.

Gervais has been tweeting about his new series. His latest tweet came on May 7.
