‘Like Crazy’ Director Drake Doremus Inks Overall Deal With Paramount TV

Like Crazy helmer Drake Doremus has signed a two-year overall deal with Paramount TV to develop new projects and direct select existing projects for the studio.

The deal marks a return to Paramount for Doremus, best known for directing the studio’s 2011 release Like Crazy, which won the Grand Jury Prize for Dramatic Film at the Sundance Film Festival. His other film credits include Douchebag, EqualsNewness and Zoe, which premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival as their Centerpiece title. His TV work includes The Beauty Inside, a miniseries which earned him a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding New Approaches- Original Daytime Program or Series.

“I was so happy to get to know Drake and his unique style as a creator and director when we worked together on Like Crazy many years ago,” said Amy Powell, President of Paramount TV. “He allows audiences to experience love and relationships in a truly honest way that resonates with audiences thanks to his honest and organic approach to story-telling. We have wanted to work together again for a long time and I’m grateful we now have the opportunity to do so in television.”

Paramount TV’s slate includes the upcoming Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan starring John Krasinski on Amazon; 13 Reasons Why on Netflix; Catch-22, a six-part Hulu series from Paramount Television, Anonymous Content, George Clooney and Grant Heslov; The Alienist on TNT; First Wives Club, debuting on Paramount Network in 2019; Shooter on USA; crime drama Berlin Station on Epix with Anonymous Content; The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin TV; and Maniac, a dark comedy series directed by Cary Fukunaga, starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill for Netflix.

He joins a list of other top creators and producers who have partnered with Paramount TV to develop content, including Tom McCarthy, Joe and Anthony Russo, Alex Cary, Tracy Oliver, Brian Yorkey, Morten Tyldum, Mike Flanagan, Trevor Macy, Anne Rice, Carlton Cuse, Mark Wahlberg, Selena Gomez, Eric Roth, Kim Rosenstock, David Manson, Patrick Somerville and Paul Feig.
