‘Arctic’ Clip: Mads Mikkelsen Shovels For Survival In Icy Drama – Cannes

Armory Films

EXCLUSIVE: Above is a first-look clip at director Joe Penna’s Arctic which is screening in the Midnight section of the Cannes Film Festival. Mads Mikkelsen stars as a man stranded after a plane crash who is finally about to receive his long-awaited rescue. But when his opportunity is lost, he must decide whether to remain in the relative safety of his camp or embark on a deadly trek through the unknown for potential salvation.

Mikkelsen told me last year that his character is “alive but not living. It’s a whole story about the contradiction between surviving and then living, which is two very different things. Can you do that by yourself? Or do you need other people in your life to come back to actually living?”

First-time feature helmer Penna wrote the screenplay with Ryan Morrison. Producers are Armory Films’ Chris Lemole and Tim Zajaros; and Noah C Haeussner for Union Entertainment Group. International sales are handled by XYZ Films with CAA and UTA on the U.S.
