‘Tuca & Bertie’: Ali Wong To Voice Co-Lead Opposite Tiffany Haddish In Netflix Animated Series

Actress-comedian Ali Wong is set to star opposite Tiffany Haddish in Tuca & Bertie, Netflix’s upcoming 10-episode animated comedy series produced by Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company.

Created by Lisa Hanawalt (BoJack Horseman), the animated comedy is about the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca (Haddish), a cocky, care-free toucan, and Bertie (Wong), an anxious, daydreaming songbird.

Haddish, Wong and Hanawalt executive produce Tuca & Bertie alongside Raphael Bob-Waksberg (BoJack Horseman), Noel Bright (BoJack Horseman, Friends), and Steven A. Cohen (BoJack Horseman, Jack & Bobby). Animation is being done at Shadowmachine.

Wong’s casting in Tuca & Bertie comes on the heels of Netflix setting a second stand-up special headlined by her, Hard Knock Wife, which will be released on Mother’s Day. Wong’s first Netflix comedy special, Baby Cobra, premiered on Mother’s Day 2016. Additionally, this summer Wong is shooting a romantic comedy for Netflix that she co-wrote with Randall Park.

Wong is currently a series regular on ABC’s American Housewife. She previously was a series regular on NBC’s Are You There, Chelsea? and appeared on Chelsea Lately. She also played Dr. Lina Lark on ABC’s Black Box and guest-starred in several episodes of Inside Amy Schumer. She  Her film credits include Savages and Dealin’ With Idiots.
