Epix has put in development drama Shook Up from The Catch creator Jennifer Schuur, Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly’s Timberman-Beverly Productions and CBS Television Studios.

Written by Schuur, inspired by a true story, Shook Up explores a rough circle of girls in 1950’s New York City, who take to the streets of mob-ruled Hell’s Kitchen and find power in their own right.

Schuur will executive produce with Timberman and Beverly via Timberman-Beverly Productions. The project was developed under the company’s overall deal at CBS TV Studios; Timberman-Beverly recently signed an overall deal at ABC Studios.

This marks one of the first major buys for Epix under new head of original programming Nancy Cotton.

Schuur created The Catch drama series which aired for two seasons on ABC. She’s currently executive producing My Brilliant Friend, HBO’s upcoming eight-episode drama series based on Elena Ferrante’s bestselling book. She previously served as a producer on Hannibal and Hostages. Schuur’s writing credits include Quarry, Army Wives, and Big Love.
