‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ Season 4 First Look: Ellie Kemper Vs. Manhattan In Musical Opening Sequence

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 4

Netflix is out with an unconventional first look at Season 4 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: a musical opening sequence from Episode 1 that might be best described as Friends-meets-Mary Tyler Moore. Series co-star Jane Krakowski sings the original song, titled “Little Girl, Big City.” Have a look and listen above.

UKS stars Ellie Kemper as the perputually grinning titular character, who went from being held for 15 years in a doomsday cult’s undergound bunker to suddenly being thrust into bustling modern Manhattan. Now she has a new job to go with her new friends (Tituss Burgess, Carol Kane) as she continues to find herself — and figure out this whole 21st century metropolis thing.

Created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, who exec produce along with fellow 30 Rock alums Jeff Richmond and David Miner, the show has gone 3-for-3 in Emmy nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series thus far. But the hardware has been elusive: no wins in 16 total noms.

Produced by Universal Television, Little Stranger Inc., 3 Arts Entertainment and Bevel Gears, the first six episodes Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s fourth season launch May 30 on the streaming service. The second half of the season will go live later this year.
