Dwayne Johnson Wrestling Drama ‘Fighting With My Family’ Rolls Into 2019

Fighting With My Family

MGM’s Fighting With My Family is moving from September 14 to March 1 next year.

The pic, directed and written by Stephen Merchant, is based on the true personal story of WWE Superstar Paige and her family of professional wrestlers.  It was inspired by a Channel 4 British documentary, The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family. Dwayne Johnson stars in addition to Lean Headey, Vince Vaughn, Nick Frost, and Kim Matula.

On its new date, Fighting With My Family gets out of a headlock of a weekend against Fox’s Predator, Sony/Studio 8’s White Boy Rick, and Lionsgate’s dark comedy A Simple Favor. On March 1, the biopic goes up against DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon: Hidden World, Fox’s The Kid Who Would Be King, and Lionsgate’s Chaos Walking.

MGM took global rights on the title out of 2017 Berlin for a whopping $17.5M. Johnson produces under his and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Production Banner with Film4. Kevin Misher and Michael J. Luisi are also producers.
