Netflix has given a 10-episode series order to a multi-camera comedy starring Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias as part of a three-project deal that also includes two new stand-up specials headlined by the comedian.

The pact expands Iglesias’ presence on Netflix. The Internet network previously ordered a special, I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry, which premiered on its streaming platform in 2016, and also carries two older Gabriel Iglesias Comedy Central standup specials.

For the multi-cam comedy series, Iglesias has reteamed with Cristela co-creator/executive producer Kevin Hench. It was on the ABC multi-camera comedy, co-created, executive produced and starring comedian Cristela Alonso, where Iglesias landed his first big TV series role — he was a major recurring player on the sitcom. ABC proceeded to take two shots at launching a comedy series headlined by Iglesias, with the multi-camera The Fluffy Shop, which went to pilot in 2016, and another project, produced by Ryan Seacrest, this past season, which didn’t get past the script stage.

On the Netflix series, Iglesias plays a good-natured public high school teacher who works at his alma mater. He takes on teaching gifted but misfit kids to not only save them from being “counseled out” by a bully bureaucrat Assistant Principal, but also to  help them unlock their full potential.

Iglesias executive produces alongside Hench who additionally executive produced ABC’s multi-camera comedy Last Man Standing, also toplined by a comedian, Tim Allen.

The first of two new Netflix stand-up comedy specials will be taped during Iglesias’ current world tour “One Show Fits All.”

“When I was a kid, I wanted to be either a stand-up comedian or a teacher. Thanks to Netflix for supporting both of my career aspirations,” Iglesias said.

Netflix has been expanding its multi-camera comedy series portfolio, building off an early success with Fuller House and The Ranch. Iglesias’ show is joining an upcoming Netflix multi-camera comedy series starring Rev Run, which originated as a pilot presentation at ABC last season.

Iglesias is a successful stand-up comedian who had rare distinction of being one of the few to headline and sell-out Madison Square Garden in New York and Staples Center in Los Angeles. He is also one of the most watched comedians on YouTube with over 365,000,000 views and has over 10 million followers across his social media.

Iglesias, a 20-year standup veteran, is currently on his new world tour, “One Show Fits All.” He can next be heard voicing “Sprinkles” the dog in the upcoming film Show Dogs. In 2017 Iglesias voiced the role of “Head Clerk” in Pixar’s Oscar-winning animated film Coco. He also voiced “Rufus the Dog” in Sony’s The Star, and  Cuatro in 20th Century Fox Film’s Ferdinand. Iglesias’ live-action feature credits include the Magic Mike franchise, A Haunted House 2, and his theatrical stand-up concert comedy film, The Fluffy Movie. On TV, Iglesias recently guest starred on an episode of ABC’s Modern Family.
