Social movie ticketing app Atom Tickets, which is backed by Lionsgate, Disney and Fox plus Fidelity Management & Research, has added nine new exhibitor partners, including No. 5 U.S. chain Harkins Theatres.
In addition to Arizona-based Harkins, the circuits joining Atom’s footprint include New Vision Theatres, Santikos Entertainment and Regency Theatres, which operates LA’s famed Bruin and Village venues in Westwood Village. Among the regional chains signing on are O’Neil Cinemas and Zyacorp Entertainment’s Cinemagic Stadium Theaters in New England, WYO Movies in Wyoming, and Southern California’s Starlight Cinemas and CGV Cinemas.
The new exhibitors collectively add 1,000 more screens to Atom’s platform, bringing the startup’s total footprint to 20,000 screens in North America.
The announcement of the new partnerships, timed with today’s opening of CinemaCon in Las Vegas, “is amazing validation that we’re providing a valuable service that makes going to the movies that much better and easier not only for theater owners but for movie fans as well,” said Matthew Bakal, Chairman and Co-Founder of Atom Tickets.
“Harkins Theatres has a rich legacy as a leader for superior programing, amenities and technology in the film exhibition industry,” said Racheal Wilson, Chief Operating Officer of Harkins. “We’re excited to partner with Atom Tickets as yet another way to provide the ultimate moviegoing experience for our guests.”
In another CinemaCon ticketing announcement, Fandango said it has pacted with National Amusements. Atom Tickets had previously signed the New England-based circuit.
