John Wells Productions has brought in Erin Jontow as EVP of Television. Jontow comes to JWP from Amazon Studios where her work included overseeing production on Matthew Weiner’s upcoming anthology series The Romanoffs and development of The Nix, the J.J. Abrams-Meryl Streep limited series, which the streaming service had in consideration for some time in the past year or so.
Prior to Amazon, Jontow worked as the VP of Television at Media Rights Capital Studios on series including Ozark and House of Cards. She previously served as VP of Scripted Development & Programming at BBC America, where she oversaw Orphan Black and Copper, among others.
“We are delighted that Erin will be joining our team,” said John Wells. “She has an extraordinary reputation within the industry and impeccable taste, strong relationships and a keen eye for talent.”
At JWP, Jontow replaces Jinny Howe who recently went to Netflix to work in original series.
“The opportunity to work alongside John, one of the most accomplished producers in our field, and the dedicated and talented team at JWP is a dream come true,” Jontow said. “Like many of us, I’ve spent countless hours being entertained by John’s programming, so I look forward to contributing to the tradition of producing quality and meaningful television.”
John Wells Prods’ current slate includes Showtime’s Shameless, which was recently renewed for its ninth season; TNT drama series Animal Kingdom, which will premiere its third season this summer; and the new Paramount Network comedic drama American Woman, starring Alicia Silverstone and Mena Suvari, which will debut in June.
