‘GLOW’ Stars Grapple With Trust Falls, Doing Their Own Stunts & Making Show Within A Show – The Contenders Emmys

Some of the ladies of Netflix’s GLOW — Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Sydelle Noel and Britney Young — stopped by Deadline’s Contenders Emmys event to offer some updates on where Season 2 picks up.

“The first season was all about training. In Season 2, it’s all about shooting the show GLOW,” said Brie. “We’re dressed in our wrestling characters almost all of every episode. It’s a lot more behind the scenes of the making of the show. There’s more on the production side and much less about learning how to wrestle.”

“There’s a lot more wrestling,” added Gilpin about next season, with Noel giving it the three B’s: “Bigger. Better. Badder.”

During the discussion, the ladies talked about how wrestling become key to building a strong bond between the 15 women.

“A month of wrestling as an intro to each other’s brains and souls was the best therapeutic intensive ropes course of each other’s emotional lives,” said Gilpin. “We were trust-falling into each other’s arms before we knew each other’s last names.”

Added Brie, “Wrestling is so intimate, and everyone put themselves out there so immediately.”

Young said of the actresses insisting on doing their own stunts: “It’s such a proud feeling to be like, ‘No, I want to go out there and do this for the shot and for these girls.’ GLOW a team sport. We do it just as much for each other as we do for ourselves.”

Filming on Season 2 has wrapped, but Netflix hasn’t announced an return date.
