‘I’m Dying Up Here’: Dana Gould & Beau Mirchoff Set To Recur In Season 2

Dana Gould (Stan Against Evil) and Awkward alum Beau Mirchoff are set to recur on the second season of Showtime drama series I’m Dying Up Here.

Created and executive produced by Dave Flebotte and executive produced by Jim Carrey and Michael Aguilar, the fictional I’m Dying Up Here, based on the book by William Knoedelseder, explores L.A.’s famed 1970s stand-up comedy scene. It delves into the inspired, damaged and complicated psyches of a fictional group of competitive but close-knit comedians mentored by Goldie (Melissa Leo), a brassy comedy club owner who rules over her business with an iron fist but nurtures her comedians with tough love. The ensemble cast also includes Ari Graynor, Clark Duke, Michael Angarano, RJ Cyler, Andrew Santino, Erik Griffin, Al Madrigal and Jake Lacy.

Gould will play Bruce, the slick, alpha-male agent of Adam (Cyler) who thinks “artistic integrity” is another word for “poverty.” Mirchoff plays Saul Hudson, a go-getter, single, wannabe playboy TV producer whose father was in the business. He’s hungry for a hit and is friends with Ralph (Griffin), and now Ralph is doing some work for Saul.

Flebotte, Carrey, Aguilar, Christina Wayne (Assembly Entertainment), Cindy Chupack, Adam Davidson and Endemol Shine Studios serve as executive producers on season two.

Gould has appeared in multiple stand-up comedy specials, including I Know It’s Wrong for Showtime. His other credits include Family Guy, Southbound, Mob City, Maron, Working, Seinfeld, Ellen and The Ben Stiller Show. The Stan Against Evil creator also shared in two Emmy Awards and four other nominations for Outstanding Animated Program with The Simpsons, for which he has also provided numerous voices. Gould is repped by WME and 3 Arts Entertainment.

Mirchoff played the series regular role of Matty McKibben on Awkward and recurred in series including The Fosters, Aquarius, Desperate Housewives and Heartland. Film credits include Flatliners, I Am Number 4 and Scary Movie 4. He is repped by APA, Velocity Entertainment Partners and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.

I’m Dying Up Here premieres its second season at 10 PM Sunday, May 6, on Showtime.
