‘Big Little Lies’ Closes Deals For 4 To Return; Adds Two New Season 2 Cast Members

Kathryn Newton (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Robin Weigert (Deadwood), Merrin Dungey (Alias) and Sarah Sokolovic (Homeland) are set to return and Crystal Fox (The Haves and the Have Nots) and Mo McRae (Den of Thieves) have joined the cast of the second season of HBO’s Emmy-winning limited series Big Little Lies.

Newton plays Abigail Carlson (series regular), Weigert portrays Dr. Amanda Reisman (recurring), Fox plays Elizabeth Howard (series regular), Sokolovic is Tori Bachman (series regular), Dungey recurs as Detective Adrienne Quinland and McRae recurs as Michael Perkins.

They join previously announced returning cast Nicole Kidman as Celeste Wright, Reese Witherspoon as Madeline Martha Mackenzie, Adam Scott as Ed MacKenzie, Laura Dern as Renata Klein, Shailene Woodley as Jane, Zoë Kravitz as Bonnie Carlson. Previously announced Meryl Streep joins Season 2 as Mary Louise Wright, along with Douglas Smith as Corey Brockfield.

Per HBO, the subversive, darkly comedic drama Big Little Lies will explore the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. Relationships will fray, loyalties will erode, and the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom.

David E. Kelley will write all seven scripts based on a story by Liane Moriarty and will executive produce, along with Kidman and Per Saari through Blossom Films, Witherspoon through Hello Sunshine, Bruna Papandrea, Jean-Marc Vallée, Nathan Ross, Gregg Fienberg and Andrea Arnold, who will also direct all seven episodes. Moriarty produces.

McRae can next be seen in the Universal/Blumhouse feature The First Purge and currently stars in STX’s Den of Thieves. His other credits include Fox’s hit drama Empire, HBO’s All The Way, Fox’s Pitch, and Wild. McRae is repped by CAA and attorney Erik Hyman.

Fox starred as Hanna Young on The Haves and the Have Nots and recurred on House Of Payne. She’s repped by Innovative Artists and Ross Stephens Artists & Entertainment.

Dungey is with Gersh and Industry Entertainment. Sokolovic is repped by ICM Partners, Lasher Group, and Felker Toczek, Suddleson, Abramson.
