Emboldened by his success in adapting a Revolutionary War hero to contemporary times, Lin-Manuel Miranda has taken on a tougher task – he has announced that Broadway will soon see his version of Tommy Wiseau’s film The Room.

Miranda announced the deal via his Twitter account today. “This is all VERY premature,” he wrote, alongside a retweet of a TheaterMania exclusive announcement of the song listing and official cast. “We’ll try it out of town in San Francisco.”

If you haven’t guessed, it’s April Fool’s Day, confirmed when Miranda retweeted a complaint by wishing a Happy April Fools to the bewildered fan.

Lin-Manual Miranda’s Tommy Wiseau’s The Room: The Broadway Musical is the title of the musical. The cast will feature Patti LuPone in the role of Claudette, Lisa’s mother; Miranda himself and Javier Munoz as Peter/Steven, a psychologist; and Mark Rylance as Johnny, “an everyman.”
