‘Roseanne’ Revival Premiere Gets Easter Sunday Rerun On ABC

People have been watching Roseanne reruns for nearly 30 years, but this one is different. ABC said today that it will re-air the two-episode premiere of the revived sitcom after it scored huge ratings last night.

“Twenty Years to Life” and “Dress to Impress” will run back-to-back on Easter Sunday, April 1, starting at 7 PM.

Roseanne returns original series stars Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Lecy Goranson, Sara Gilbert and Michael Fishman, along with newcomers Emma Kenney, Alicia Goranson, Ames McNamara and Jayden Rey. Sarah Chalke, who played the second Becky on the original, guest stars in both episodes as a woman who wants Becky (Goranson) to be her surrogate.

The 8 PM first episode of the Roseanne revival premiere drew a massive 17.7 million viewers and a 4.9 rating in adults 18-49. The second at 8:30 PM rose even higher to 18.6 million viewers and a 5.3 in 18-49. For the 8 PM hour, Roseanne averaged a 5.1 in 18-49 and 18.2 million viewers. Roseanne easily ranks as the biggest series debut this season, topping CBS’ Young Sheldon (17.2 million, 3.8), which had a big lead-in from the series from which it was spun  off, The Big Bang Theory.

Barr is an executive producer of the series from Carsey-Werner Television., along with Gilbert, Tom Werner, Bruce Helford, Whitney Cummings and Tony Hernandez.
