NCAA Leads Friday Ratings, ‘Dynasty’ Grows, NBC Bags Biggest Non-Sports Crowd

The CW

CBS’s NCAA tournament coverage dominated Friday with early stats (1.8 demo rating, 6.46 million viewers) boosted from previous week’s round 1 broadcasts, but shy of same night last year’s 2.4 demo rating and 8M viewers.

NBC’s Blindspot (0.6, 3.3M), Taken (0.4, 2.9M), and Dateline (0.6, 3.71M) were the top non-sports choices in total viewers at 8 PM, 9 PM and 10 PM.

In the demo, Fox’s Masterchef Jr. was the top non-sports program at 8, ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (0.5, 2.03M) at 9 PM, and NBC’s Dateline at 10.

But Dynasty (0.2, 670K) was the only non-hoops broadcast show to improve week-to-week.  CW’s primetime soap reboot inched up 1/10th in the demo to recover from previous weeks’ season low 0.1. CW’s Jane the Virgin (0.2, 650K), was steady versus previous week in the demo – one of three scripted shows that hung tight, also including S.H.I.E.L.D and Blindspot.

CBS (1.8, 6.46M) dominated primetime in both metrics. Fox (0.6, 2.76M) followed in the demo, and NBC (0.5, 3.327M) in total viewers. ABC (0.5, 2.42M) and CW (0.2, 660K) followed.
