Elon Musk Takes His Boldest Step Yet – He Deletes His Company Facebook Accounts

Elon Musk

Entrepreneur Elon Musk has always had the pioneer spirit. So it’s no surprise that the man spearheading a manned trip to Mars and building electric vehicles is in the forefront of the #deletefacebook campaign.

Taking up an online challenge¬† from a Twitter follower, Musk has taken down Tesla and SpaceX’s Facebook accounts. That promptly flushed a combined 2.6 million likes, but Musk didn’t stop there. He also took down the Tesla-owned Solar City account.

Musk had cheekily tweeted, “What’s Facebook?”¬† before his actions.

Facebook has been under fire since it was reported that Cambridge Analytica harvested data from 50 million Facebook users.

Musk said online that he wasn’t aware his companies even had a Facebook page, saying he had “literally never seen it even once.”

He was then challenged to delete if he purported to be “the man.”¬† That was followed by another user sending a screenshot of Tesla’s Facebook account with the tweet, “This should be deleted too right?”

Facebook has had no comment on the movement. It is also unclear if the removal by Musk is permanent, or just a temporary measure before returning.
