‘9-1-1’ Season Ender Wins Wednesday; ‘Survivor: Ghost Island’ Tops Total Viewers

9-1-1 Fox

Fox’s 9-1-1 season finale (1.7 demo rating, 6.581 million viewers) ticked up by 1/10th of a rating point, to tie CBS’s Survivor: Ghost Island (1.7, 8.52M) as the top show of the night in the demo for the first time in the four Wednesdays they’ve both been on the schedule.

Survivor: Ghost Island was Wednesday’s No. 1 program for a fourth consecutive week in total viewers, while tying for that top spot in the demo with Ryan Murphy’s procedural drama which bagged its best demo delivery since February 7.

Fox also wrapped its disappointing season of The X-Files (0.9, 3.36M), which rallied by 0.2 of a point versus previous week’s series-low 0.7. Wednesday’s 0.9 is the best demo showing since March 7 for the paranormal drama reboot, which star Gillian Anderson has publicly said marked her so-long from that show.

Also wrapping its season, ABC’s Speechless,(1.3, 4.64M) was much improved from previous week’s pair of 0.9 ratings for back-to-back episodes. This week, Speechless aired only at 8:30 PM, enjoying a stronger The Goldbergs (1.5, 5.83M) lead-in.

NBC aired a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit repeat (0.8, 4.8M) at 8 PM, after which 9 PM’s SEAL Team (1.0, 6.47M) and 10 PM’s Chicago P.D. (1.3, 7.0M) enjoyed their best ratings since January 17.

CW’s Riverdale (0.4, 1.13M) hit a season low in overall audience and matched its season low in the demo, leading in to Life Sentence (0.2, 544K).

Fox (1.3, 4.973M) took the night in the demo; CBS (1.2, 6.734M) in total viewers, followed by NBC (1.2, 6.038M) and ABC (1.2, 4.759M). CW (0.3, 838K) trailed.
