China is going to be ringing in the New Year with Ryan Seacret. STX Entertainment and dick clark productions are bringing Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest to China for 2018. Over 22M Americans tuned in last year to the broadcas. STX Entertainment has been selected as dcp’s exclusive partner for distribution in China. It will air live.

This comes after The Wanda Group entered into negotiations with Eldridge Industries to buy dick clark productions for $1B and then bailed; That deal ended up giving dcp a whopping $50M anyway when talks ended. How? That amount represented the escrowed amount break-up fee of $25M on top of the initial $25M that Wanda made to Eldridge for its agreement to extend a closing date.

It also comes after STX Entertainment secured the Chinese distribution rights to 75th Annual Golden Globes award show, plus its pre-show and a special.

Among the performers slated for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve this year are multi-platinum selling artists Camila Cabello, Nick Jonas and Sugarland in New York City, Imagine Dragons and Walk The Moon from New Orleans, as well as show stopping performers Kane Brown, BTS, Kelly Clarkson, Fitz & The Tantrums, Florida Georgia Line, Halsey, Khalid, Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth, Portugal. The Man and Hailee Steinfeld, and all-star collaborations from Alessia Cara and Zedd, G-Eazy and Halsey, Khalid with Marshmello, Bebe Rexha featuring Florida Georgia Line, and Hailee Steinfeld and Alesso featuring Florida Georgia Line and watt in Hollywood.

Multi-platinum superstar Ciara and actresses Jenny McCarthy and Lucy Hale will join Ryan Seacrest in hosting this year’s countdown across the country.

This year marks the 46th anniversary of America’s largest celebration of the new year and will include over 5 ½ hours of special performances and reports on New Year’s festivities from around the globe.

“Every year we deliver one of the biggest groups of music talent on the planet to celebrate the best songs of the past year and ring in the New Year on a high note,” said Mark Rafalowski, EVP, dick clark productions International. “We look forward to growing this tradition with STX in China.”
