Paramount Moves Johnny Knoxville Comedy ‘Action Point’ To Summer, ‘SpongeBob’ Heads To 2020 & More

Paramount Pictures

Paramount announced another round of release date news this morning with the Johnny Knoxville comedy Action Point from director Tim Kirkby moving from March 23 next year to May 11. Action Point goes up against New Line/Warner Bros. Melissa McCarthy comedy Life of the Party on its new date and Annapurna’s Where’d You Go Bernadette. Amazon Studios also has Gus Van Sant’s biopic drama Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot on that date.

In addition, the studio’s third SpongeBob Movie is now set to open on July 31, 2020 instead of Aug. 2, 2019. That July 31 was originally set for a Nickelodeon hybrid movie, and, well, that’s now SpongeBob.

The Melrose lot has also set an animated title for May 15, 2020. Warner Bros. has a reboot of Scooby Doo happening on that date.
