YouTube Red Orders ‘Wayne’ Comedy Pilot Starring Mark McKenna & Ciara Bravo

YouTube Red has given a pilot order to action comedy Wayne, toplined by Mark McKenna (Sing Street, Kat and Alfie: Redwater) and Ciara Bravo (Big Time Rush, Red Band Society), sources said.

Wayne, created and written by Shawn Simmons (School of Rock) and directed by Iain B. MacDonald (Episodes, Shameless), is described as a gritty and sometimes bloody tale. In it, fifteen year-old Wayne (McKenna) sets out on a dirt bike with his new crush Del (Bravo) to take back the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am that was stolen from his father before he died. It is Wayne and Del against the world.

The pilot, produced by Endeavor Content, will be executive produced by Greg Coolidge (Ride Along), Kirk Ward, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (Deadpool, Zombieland). Dan Hank will serve as a producer.

Wayne joins recently ordered YouTube Red dark comedy pilot Widow, from Kapital Entertainment.
