‘Lip Sync Battle’ Producer Josh Greenberg Inks Deal With Pilgrim Media, Preps 2 Music Competition Series

Lip Sync Battle co-executive producer/showrunner Josh Greenberg (Seasons 1 & 3) has signed a development and production deal with Craig Piligian’s Pilgrim Media Group (The Ultimate Fighter) to create competition formats in the hip-hop and other music genres.

Under the pact, Greenberg and Pilgrim are working on two new music competition formats they are getting ready to take to the marketplace —  The Protégé and The Music Makers (working titles).

In The Protégé, 10 legendary recording artists head back to their respective hometowns in search of the country’s next superstar.

The Music Makers features artists and inventors who combine their voices and raw musicianship with some build skills. Transforming everyday objects into one-of-a-kind “instruments,” performers compete to build and play their ultimate sound machines.

At Pilgrim, Greenberg is working in collaboration with the company’s CCO Johnny Gould and VP and Head of Development Nicole Silveira,

“Josh Greenberg has been one of unscripted’s key creatives in the music and performance competition space, and we believe his expertise and bold approach is a great fit for Pilgrim,” said Piligian. “We’re excited to be working with Josh and to take these and many other series out to the marketplace.”

Greenberg served as executive producer of 2017’s MTV Movie & TV Awards, He also developed and executive produced The Sing-Off for NBC and America’s Best Dance Crew for MTV. His executive producing credits include Guy’s Choice and the 2016 Webbys, along with ABC’s Splash and the CW’s The World Dog Awards. He’s repped by CAA.
