Warner Bros. is moving the New Line Cinema Jeremy Renner-Ed Helms-Rashida Jones-Annabelle Wallis comedy Tag up from June 29 next year to June 15.  That’s where Disney’s Pixar The Incredibles 2 is, so Tag will counterprogram that film. We heard Incredibles 2 tested last night to great results. Tag runs away from the pre-Independence Day weekend where Lionsgate is debuting Uncle Drew and Sony’s Sicario 2: Soldado.

In the meantime, they’ve set Shaft for a June 14, 2019 release and The Goldfinch for Oct. 11, 2019.

Shaft will be directed by Tim Story and Samuel L. Jackson will reprise the role of John Shaft, the nephew of John Shaft, and Richard Roundtree, will return to the iconic role. Jessie Usher also stars. Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow are writing. In the new version, when his friend dies under suspicious circumstances, a nerdy millennial FBI analyst launches his own investigation, reluctantly enlisting help from his estranged father — the legendary, stuck-in-the-80s-but-still-cool-as-hell John Shaft. Deadline originally broke the news about the project.

The Goldfinch, directed by John Crowley, and starring Sarah Paulson and Ansel Elgort, centers around a boy in New York who is taken in by a wealthy Upper East Side family after his mother is killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Pic is based on the Donna Tartt novel. Currently, The Goldfinch is the only release on Oct. 11.
