EXCLUSIVE: Vice Principals co-star Georgia King is set as the female lead opposite Adhir Kalyan in Making Friends, Amazon Studios’ multi-camera comedy pilot from How I Met Your Mother creators/executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, along with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Sony Pictures TV Studios, where Bays & Thomas as well as Rogen & Goldberg have overall deals, is the studio.

Written by Bays and Thomas and directed by HIMYM director/executive producer Pam Fryman, Making Friends — which marks Amazon’s first multi-camera pilot — centers on Mark (Kalyan), a brilliant guy with a degree in artificial intelligence who creates robots and spends his days hanging out with them as his main group of friends. When Mark invites beautiful bartender Shelly (King) — a kind and loving young woman with a master’s degree in psychology — over for dinner, the stage is set for comical disaster, as his robot buddies go a bit rogue.

Thomas, Bays and Brian Brockrath executive produce via Bays/Thomas Prods, alongside Rogen, Goldberg and James Weaver via Point Grey and Fryman.

In her first big U.S. TV gig, Scotland-born King landed the female lead of another single-camera broadcast pilot, NBC’ The New Normal, from Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler, which went to series. Last season, she was cast as the lead in the Diablo Cody/Berlanti Prods. ABC comedy pilot Raised by Wolves. She is repped by Paradigm and Thruline.
