Christopher Cantwell Tapped To Direct Aaron Paul In ‘The Parts You Lose’

Christopher Cantwell, co-creator of AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire, has signed on to direct the thriller The Parts You Lose, starring Emmy-winner and Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul alongside newcomer Danny Murphy. Written by Darren Lemke, the film follows the unlikely friendship that unfolds between a young deaf boy, Wesley, and a fugitive criminal who takes refuge in an abandoned barn on the family’s rural North Dakota farm. After forming a deep bond with the man, Wesley must decide where to place his allegiances when the authorities begin to close in on the fugitive.

Murphy, who plays Wesley, was cast following a worldwide search for a young boy who is hard of hearing. Murphy is fluent in British Sign Language and was the BDA (British Deaf Association) nominee for the 2017 Diana Award which is awarded to a courageous, young person carrying out Princess Diana’s belief that young people have the power to change the world. Murphy , who runs a YouTube channel where he creates and stars in comedy skits, will mark his feature film debut with this project.

The film falls under The H Collective’s production deal with Breaking Bad producer Mark Johnson who will produce under his Gran Via banner with Tom Williams and Paul. The H Collective will fully finance.

Cantwell, who created Halt and Catch Fire with writing partner Christopher C. Roger, directed some episodes of the AMC drama that centered on the early days of the computing revolution. The show, which recently wrapped with a fourth and final season, starred Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy Mackenzie Davis, and Kerry Bishé.

Cantwell is repped by UTA and Management 360.
