Nick Carter Accused Of Rape By Melissa Schuman; Says He’s “Shocked & Saddened” By Allegation

Singer/reality TV personality Nick Carter has been accused of rape by former Dream singer Melissa Schuman. He denies the allegation.

Schuman, now 33, alleged in a blog post that Carter raped her in his Santa Monica apartment when she was 18 and he was 22, on a day off from shooting The Hollow in 2002, in which they both starred.

“I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations,” Carter told People in a statement. “Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual. We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally. This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm.”

Backstreet Boys singer Carter toplined reality series House of Carters which aired in 2006 on E! He’s also had guest roles on Undateable and 90210.
