Seth Meyers In Talks To Host Golden Globe Awards

Seth Meyers

Seth Meyers is in negotiations to host the 2018 Golden Globe Awards, sources say. The deal is not yet closed.

The choice is not a surprise, given the show airs on NBC, home to Late Night with Seth Meyers, and Meyers would follow fellow NBC late-nighter, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, who emceed the trophy show last year.

Meyers would become the fourth person/team to host the awards show, following Fallon, Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey & Amy Poehler.

Meyers has hosted Late Night since 2014, but has gotten a considerable boost in ratings due to his political coverage and criticism of the Trump administration. NBC recently claimed its fourth consecutive 52-week demo ratings win and was No. 1 in late-night with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Meyers’ Late Night.

Meyers previously hosted the the 2014 Emmys and the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner, in which he skewered then reality-host Donald Trump.

NBC announced earlier today it will air the Golden Globes 75th Anniversary Special on December 13, a two-hour special hosted by Will & Grace stars Eric McCormack and Debra Messing to celebrate the best moments in the history of the awards.

The 75th Golden Globe Awards will air live January 7 from the Beverly Hilton.
