‘Youth In Oregon’ Lands Deal At Orion & Samuel Goldwyn For February Bow

Tribeca Film Festival

Orion Pictures and Samuel Goldwyn Films have acquired rights to Youth in Oregon, the Joel David Moore-directed drama starring Frank Langella along with Billy Crudup, Christina Applegate, Mary Kay Place, Josh Lucas, Nicola Peltz and Alex Shaffer. It will get a U.S. theatrical and on-demand release February 3.

The Andrew Eisen-scripted pic centers on Raymond (Langella), a 79-year-old curmudgeon who makes arrangements to be euthanized in Oregon. His family refuses to accept his decision, but when another family emergency arises, Raymond’s daughter Kate (Applegate) turns to her husband Brian (Crudup) for a little help. Brian reluctantly volunteers to drive Raymond and his wine-loving wife Estelle (Mary Kay Place) the 3,000 miles to Oregon — determined to change Raymond’s mind before they get there.

The film premiered at Tribeca and is next up screening at Palm Springs.

Stefan Nowicki, Joey Carey and Morgan White of Sundial Pictures produced the pic, which was executive produced by Langella and Ross Dinerstein. The deal was negotiated on behalf of Samuel Goldwyn by Peter Goldwyn, with Ben Weiss and Meghan Oliver of Paradigm for the filmmakers.
