A+E Networks has appointed Patrick Vien and Edward Sabin to Executive Managing Directors, a move the network says will bolster its international executive team. The appointments were announced by Sean Cohan, President, International and Digital Media, A+E Networks, to whom they will report.

Vien joins A+E Networks as Executive Managing Director, International, with oversight of all of A+E’s businesses throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa. He’ll also lead the programming strategy, acquisitions and production for channels outside the United States and collaborate on international marketing initiatives. Based in New York City, Vien will oversee all aspects relating to the company’s international content sales across 220 territories when he begins his role in January.

Vien (above, left) arrives from Pulse Films, with whom A+E Networks has recently formed a partnership, and he’ll continue to manage that partnership. At Pulse, Vien was President of the global content studio, with Pulse’s most recent output including Lemonade with Beyonce for HBO and the feature film American Honey starring Shia LeBoeuf. He’d previously been Chairman and CEO of Warner Music International, President of NBC Universal Global Networks and founder of U.S. cable networks Trio and US: Newsworld International.

Sabin (above, right) is upped to Executive Managing Director, International and will become co-head of international with Vien. He joined A+E Networks in 2015 as Managing Director, Americas & Head of Commercial Operations, overseeing A+E International’s commercial operations globally, and manages key relationships, partnerships, channels and digital media activities in Latin America and Canada. Sabin also leads the company’s global strategic and operational teams, and heads up format programming and production. Based in Los Angeles, Sabin adds oversight of Asia, Australia and New Zealand to his remit.

Sabin joined A+E Networks from Discovery & TLC Networks, where he was Group Chief Operating Officer. He joined Discovery from Fox Television Studios and previously was a partner at Greenberg Glusker.

“Vien’s appointment and Sabin’s elevation will support A+E Networks’ rapidly expanding global footprint across all platforms for both long and short-form entertainment,” said Cohan (left).

In May, A+E Networks entered into the international distribution deal with Pulse Films and its wholly-owned formats and entertainment company East Entertainment to distribute the company’s format and unscripted television output.  Sabin and Vien negotiated the deal.
