NBC Buys Workplace Family Comedy ‘#Blessed’ From ‘@midnight’ EP & Jackal


NBC has put in development #Blessed, a single-camera workplace family comedy from @midnight executive producer Alex Blagg, the Jackal Group (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Sonar Entertainment and Universal TV.

Written by Blagg, #Blessed follows an eccentric group of parent bloggers who work at a digital “mommy media” company and the recently divorced single dad hired to manage them. Blagg executive produces with the Jackal Group’s Gail Berman and Joe Earley, Sonar Entertainment’s Thomas Lesinski, and Jenna Santoianni, and Peacock Alley Entertainment’s Carrie Mudd.

Blagg writes and serves as an executive producer on Comedy Central’s @midnight. His other credits include Workaholics, Betas and serving as showrunner on Moshe Kasher’s upcoming Comedy Central series, Problematic. Blagg is repped by WME, Principato-Young Entertainment, and Ginsburg Daniels.


The Jackal Group’s projects in development also include comedy series Mattress World, written by Jay Lacopo, at Fox; Camelot, written by Dan Frey and Ru Sommer, at Fox; Royalties, written by Allyn Rachel and Patrick Carlyle, at Fox; comedy Ridin’ Dirty, written by Allyn Rachel, at FX; drama Love and Murder in the Hamptons, written by Theresa Rebeck, at Lifetime; Horrorstör based on Grady Hendrix’s novel, written by Josh Schwarz and Mike Vukadinovich; The Immortalists, a cable drama adaptation of Chloe Benjamin’s forthcoming novel; Park Row, written by Academy Robert Rodat; and the unscripted Group Chat at MTV.

Sonar’s slate includes Season 2 of The Shannara Chronicles, for MTV; The Son, starring Pierce Brosnan for AMC; Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes, written by David E. Kelley, for the AT&T Audience Network; and Das Boot, an eight-part series based on the movie, for Sky.

Peacock Alley’s drama Travelers, written by Brad Wright, launches December 23 on Netflix. The current production slate includes A User’s Guide to Cheating Death, Sticker $hock, Unusually Thicke, Illusions of Grandeur, Brave New Girls, Sweat the City and Money Moron.
