TNT Orders ‘The Deep Mad Dark’ Pilot From John Wells & Megan Martin

TNT has ordered The Deep Mad Dark pilot from Animal Kingdom writers-executive producers John Wells and Megan Martin, Fabrik Entertainment, Warner Horizon Television and Turner’s Studio T.

Written by Martin, The Deep Mad Dark is described as an atmospheric mystery-thriller about the complexities of female friendship. Martin exec produces along with Wells, Fabrik CEO Henrik Bastin (Bosch, The Comedians) and Kristen Campo (The Killing, The Good Guys). John Wells Productions and Fabrik Entertainment are producing in association with Warner Horizon Television and Turner’s Studio T.

The Deep Mad Dark opens as Detroit neurosurgeon Polly Lewis embarks on an unorthodox study in the field of memory and trauma. Her once closest friend – the irreverent, brilliant Tash Hollander – comes home after living many years in a strange, off-the-grid community in Belize. Upon her return, Tash insinuates herself into Polly’s life in audacious ways that threaten everything Polly has achieved. But why?

The Deep Mad Dark is Wells’ second pilot set at TNT this season, joining pilot Hinges, which Wells executive produces with EP/writer Janine Sherman Barrois, EP/director Anthony Hemingway and EP Mark Taylor. The Deep Mad Dark is TNT’s first collaboration with Fabrik Entertainment.
