Netflix’s ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’ Gets Season 2, No Return Date Set

Luke Cage

Sweet Christmas! Literally as it turns out, as Netflix announced today at Comic Con Brazil that there will be a second season of Marvel’s Luke Cage. No date was set for the return – a very short teaser on the show’s Twitter page merely says “Coming Soon.” But fans should be very pleased to know there’ll be more to come from the defender of Harlem.

Here’s the Season 2 teaser:

Mike Coulter plays the title character, an ex-cop framed for a crime he didn’t commit, turned into a Harlem-based invulnerable crimefighter. The character debuted during the first season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones and will be a major part of Marvel’s The Defenders, a crossover miniseries bringing together the four main heroes of Marvel’s Netflix-verse: Cage, Jones, Daredevil, and Iron Fist. The Defenders is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2017 after Marvel’s Iron Fist, which premieres on the streaming service March 17, 2017 and focuses on the titular character, a supernaturally trained martial arts expert. In the comics, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are close friends and often partners in the superhero business, which could make an appearance by Luke Cage in the series a strong possibility.

The season one cast of Luke Cage included Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Rosario Dawson, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, and Erik LaRay Harvey. Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix.
