Disney’s Bob Iger Lone Media Boss On Donald Trump’s New Policy Forum Team

President-elect Donald Trump said today he is establishing the President’s Strategic and Policy Forum, which is composed of some of the country’s most respected and successful business leaders. The Forum will be chaired by Blackstone chairman, CEO and co-founder Stephen A. Schwarzman, and it will be called upon to meet with Trump frequently. The first meeting is set for February at the White House.

The lone figure on the list from Trump’s so-called “dishonest media” is Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger, who joins a group that includes General Electric boss Jack Welch, GM chief Mary Berra, JPMorgan Chase’s Jamie Dimon and former SEC commissioner Paul Atkins (see the full list below).

Members will be charged with providing their individual views to Trump on how government policy impacts economic growth, job creation and productivity. The release today said the group is designed to provide direct input to the president “in a frank, non-bureaucratic, and non-partisan manner.”

“This forum brings together CEOs and business leaders who know what it takes to create jobs and drive economic growth,” Trump said. “My administration is committed to drawing on private sector expertise and cutting the government red tape that is holding back our businesses from hiring, innovating and expanding right here in America.”

Earlier this week, Trump appointed hedge-fund boss Steve Mnuchin as Treasury Secretary as a key member of his economic team. Mnuchin’s Dune Capital has been active in Hollywood, helping to finance the X-Men franchise, Gravity, The Lego Movie, Life of Pi and Avatar. He also briefly served as co-chairman of Relativity Media, leaving before mid-2015 when it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
