Scandinavian digital entertainment group MTG Studios is partnering with Red Arrow International to co-produce international drama series Embassy Down. Created and written by hot Danish scribe Anders Frithiof August (The Legacy, Follow The Money), the eight-part political thriller will be made mainly in English with local languages incorporated. It’s slotted to premiere in the Nordics in 2018 on MTG’s video streaming service Viaplay. Red Arrow is leading the co-financing and will distribute worldwide.
Set in current day Copenhagen, Embassy Down combines action with multi-layered political intrigue and human drama. When terrorists storm the opening party at the new United States embassy and take the guests hostage, a chain of events is triggered that plays out across the Danish capital with repercussions around the world.
The story explores the complex personal relationships between hostage and captor inside the besieged embassy, and the intricate political maneuverings outside.
Producers are Nordisk Films’ René Ezra and Tomas Radoor (Tobias Lindholm’s A Hijacking and Oscar-nominated A War). Executive producers at Red Arrow’s Fabrik Entertainment are Henrik Bastin (Bosch), Mikkel Bondesen (The Killing) and Head of Development Melissa Aouate, as well as Amelie von Kienlin, SVP Scripted Acquisitions and Co-Productions at Red Arrow International.
MTG Studios’ recent series include Nordic drama Veni Vidi Vici and LA based comedy drama Swedish Dicks.
