‘ABC World News Tonight’ Takes November Sweep In Total Viewers While ‘NBC Nightly News’ Grows Demo Streak

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt ranked tops in the November sweep, averaging 2.1 million news-demo viewers viewers. The NBC News broadcast has now tallied wins for 32 of last 35 sweeps periods in the 25-54 age bracket.  NBC bested ABC World News Tonight with David Muir ( 1.9M) and CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley (1.6M).

But ABC’s newscast took the November sweep in total viewers, for the first time in 15 years. The last time the ABC program won a November sweep was in 2001; it was the November sweep that followed the September 11 terrorist attack in this country and Peter Jennings was its anchor. Muir’s newscast logged 8.6M viewers, to NBC’s  8.5M and CBS’s 7.1M.

Nightly News also took top spot in in the younger, 18-49 demo, as it has done every November since 1997, logging 1.6 million viewers for the November race, topping ABC’s 1.4M and CBS’s 1.1M.
