‘Dancing With The Stars’ Finale Ratings Fall From 2015, ‘This Is Us’ Wins Night

After a season that saw stage-crashers go after Olympian and competitor Ryan Lochte, Dancing With The Stars (1.8/6) declared its own gold medalists last night. However, the ABC competition show had to settle for a bronze medal on the night.

Down a hard 25% among adults 18-49 from its Season 21 finale last November, last night’s 9-11 PM DWTS was beaten on the ratings dance floor by NBC’s new heavyweight This Is Us (2.4/8), which topped Wednesday for a sixth airing in a row even though it dipped 8% from its November 15 episode. The ratings silver medal went to CBS powerhouse NCIS (1.9/7), which was up 12% in the demo from last week. The procedural also won Wednesday in total viewers with 14.84 million for the best NCIS has done since September 27.

The Voice (1.8/7) declined 14% from last week and Chicago Fire (1.5/6) was the same –and that gave NBC a ratings win for the night with a steady 1.9/7. As is common in the middle of the week, CBS took the viewership top spot Wednesday. With Bull (1.5/5) and NCIS: New Orleans (1.2/4) holding even against the DWTS finale in the key demo, the House of Moonves snared an overall audience of 1.4 million.

ABC can take consolation that last night’s DWTS — which saw champion Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez win the Mirror Ball trophy — was up 13% from the Season 22 finale of May 24 and even with Monday’s 8-10 PM finale Part 1 show. Opening the Disney-owned net’s night, The Middle (1.6/6) was the same as its November 15 show, but newbie American Housewife (1.4/5) was down 13% among the 18-49s.

Heading into next week’s mega-crossover with Supergirl, Arrow and DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, last night’s The Flash (1.1/4) was down a tenth from last week. Lead-out and newbie No Tomorrow (0.3/1) was even with its November 15 show.

On Fox, Brooklyn Nine-Nine (0.9/3) was also unchanged from last week, but New Girl (0.8/3), having seen adjustment in the final numbers, is down two tenths from last week — though that that could change in today’s later ratings. Scream Queens (0.5/2) was down a tenth from its November 15 episode.

And, with that, have a Happy Thanksgiving Hollywood!
