Tyler Perry’s ‘Too Close To Home’ Season 2 Gets Midseason Premiere Date On TLC

Too Close To Home

TLC will launch the second season of  its first scripted series, Too Close To Home on Wednesday, January 4 at 10 PM ET/PT.

Eight new episodes of the drama continue to follow the story of Anna (Danielle Savre), a young woman facing her past after an affair with POTUS causes her to flee Washington and return to her hometown in Alabama.

Savre returns as Anna; Heather Locklear returns as a guest star playing the role of Katelynn, the First Lady. Additional cast members returning to lead roles include Kelly Sullivan (Bonnie), Brock O’Hurn (Brody), Brad Benedict (J.B.), and Brooke Anne Smith (Shelby).

Production wrapped this week on new episodes, directed and produced by Perry, at Tyler Perry Studios on the former Fort McPherson army base in Atlanta. In September, coming off strong premiere ratings, TLC announced it had picked up the show for a second season.

The cast has expanded for the new season. In recurring roles: Courtney Burrell (as Nelson), Azur-De (as Regina), Nelson Estevez (as Elm) and Angela Rigsby (as Octavia). Also James Shanklin (as Eli), KD Aubert (as Tina), and Crystle Stewart (as Frankie).

“We’re just as excited as our viewers to discover where the Too Close to Home characters will go next,” Nancy Daniels, TLC President and General Manager, enthused in this morning’s announcement.

In the October finale, Anna had returned to the small town from whence she came, but can’t get a break because powerful people in Washington still are looking for her. Meanwhile, Dax and Victor are entrenched in their own scandal, Dax’s loyalties may not be with Victor or Anna, but someone “sinister.” And, as if that plot weren’t thick enough, the show dives into another Happy family’s dirty deeds, an ugly love triangle is revealed, and a face all-too familiar to Anna, Bonnie, and Shelby returns to the town and sets his sights on Rebel. Phew!

For the deeply committed: other series regulars coming back for Season 2 include, Trisha Rae Stahl (Jolene), Alpha Trivette (Dr. Allen), Robert Craighead (Sheriff Mobley), Curran Walters (Mack), Annie Thrash (Rebel), Justin Gabriel (Rick), Nick Ballard (Dax), and Charles Justo (Victor). Returning as recurring cast: Matt Battaglia (Thomas/The President), Ashley Love-Mills (Valerie) and Christian Ochoa (John).
